            Vagrich Bakhchanian (1938-2009) was a
conceptualist, writer and artist. In 1974 he emigrated
to New York. His cycle ‘Still lives’ consists of short
poems that each bear as a title ‘Still Life with’ followed
by the name of an object. These poems do not have
rhyme nor rhythm but they are rather an enumeration
of concepts. For this book Goppe used simple
white sheets of paper on which he printed the text
of the poems and sheet music paper for the colour
lithographs and the collages with old photographs,
filmstrips and pieces of paper. The use of sheet music
is explained by the name Bach, as Bakhchanian was
            called by his friends.
